Taro's ElixSure Medicines Receive the Good Housekeeping Institute's 'Good Buy Award'; Spill-Resistant Liquid Children's Medications Recognized for Accuracy and Ease of Use

HAWTHORNE, N.Y., Dec 10, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Taro Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NASDAQ: TARO) today announced that ElixSure(TM) spill-resistant children's medicines, recently launched in the U.S. by Taro Consumer Healthcare Products, have received a 2003 Good Buy Award from the Good Housekeeping Institute.

ElixSure(TM) products are specially formulated to increase accuracy and ease of use when administering liquid fever/pain, cough and congestion medicines to children.

Only Healthcare Product Selected

The Good Housekeeping Institute reviewed thousands of new products before deciding on this year's Good Buy Awards. ElixSure(TM) is the only healthcare product, and one of only seven products in total, to receive the Good Buy Award this year. According to Good Housekeeping, ElixSure(TM) and the other six products were selected for their "ingenuity, value and exceptional performance" and because they "represent innovative solutions that save consumers time, money and aggravation."

"We appreciate this recognition by Good Housekeeping, an organization that has earned the trust and respect of consumers," said Barrie Levitt, M.D., Chairman of Taro. "Giving liquid medicines to children can be frustrating for parents, doctors and children at a time when the emphasis should be on comforting a sick child. An unpleasant struggle often develops, which can result in spills, stains and inaccurate dosages of medicine. We believe ElixSure's spill-resistant formulations go a long way towards solving this problem," said Dr. Levitt. "This award acknowledges the benefits of ElixSure(TM) products and our NonSpil(TM) drug delivery system."

ElixSure(TM) Children's Medicines

The ElixSure(TM) products are single-symptom formulations used for fever/pain, cough and congestion. ElixSure(TM) medicines utilize the patented NonSpil(TM) liquid drug delivery system developed by Taro researchers. The products pour like liquids but resist spilling, even if the spoon is turned upside down. In addition, ElixSure(TM) medicines do not require shaking before administration.

ElixSure(TM) comes in bubble gum, grape and cherry flavors. The products are available at major drugstores, grocery chains and mass merchandisers across the U.S.

9th Annual Good Buy Awards in Good Housekeeping Magazine

The 9th Annual Good Buy Award products are featured in the January 2004 issue of Good Housekeeping magazine, which states that each Good Buy Award product is "designed to make it easier to care for your home and your family." Regarding ElixSure(TM), Good Housekeeping notes, "No spilling ensures you'll deliver a full dosage."
